GET TO KNOW ROBB J. PARLANTI, CFA
1. How long have you worked at BLB&B Advisors LLC?
I joined BLBB as a Financial Advisor just over 10 years ago and became a BLBB Principal 4 years ago. Prior to BLBB, I spent 18 years at Turner Investment Partners where I served as a Partner and Portfolio Manager. Before Turner, and shortly after graduating from Wake Forest University, I spent 6 years at PNC Bank where I also obtained my CFA designation.
2. Why did you decide to become a financial advisor?
I derive great personal satisfaction from helping others get their financial houses in order so that they can reach their personal and life goals. It’s that simple. Sure, I love the challenge of investing in the markets, but, it is really the close relationships with my clients that make me want to come to work each day. Maybe I should mention that I also really like the people I work with!
3. What do you like to do outside of the office?
When I am not at work, I like to head outdoors and unwind. I enjoy golf, hunting, hiking, skiing, and even gardening and yardwork. Engaging in these kinds of outdoor activities helps to clear my head and enables me to be more introspective and do some soul searching. Over the years, my faith has helped me navigate many of life’s challenges and taught me to find true pleasure in helping others.
I am also beyond fortunate to have an awesome family life. I am happily married to my wife (for almost 30 years!) and we are the proud parents of 2 adult sons. Finally, I serve as a committee or board member for several local non-profit organizations including my church and Alpha MidAtlantic.
4. Name one fun fact about you that would surprise others?
Investments are in my blood. When I was just a young boy, my father introduced me to this world through my many visits to his brokerage firm in Philadelphia. As I got older, he helped me analyze stocks to buy for my small investment account. He encouraged me to learn about the markets and to develop relationships with people in the business. It paid off. I have cultivated several professional mentors over the years who have helped me become a better investor and financial advisor. It should also be noted that my mother’s father was a trader on Wall Street and he was the person who encouraged my father to get into the business. I am proud to be in the third generation of investment professionals in my family.
