BLBB participated in ACHIEVEability's Impact Day

BLBB Charitable and BLBB Advisors once again participated in ACHIEVEability’s Impact Day, its second annual volunteer event. Over 600 volunteers made a powerful impact in West Philadelphia—and the energy was electric. Together, we’re transforming blocks and lives. Just look at what we’ve accomplished:
🎨 160+ porches painted
85 planters installed
🥫 6,000 lbs. of food distributed to families
📚 10 mini-libraries installed
🌿 Countless green spaces restored
🌻 1 community garden launched
ACHIEVEability is a nonprofit working to permanently break the generational cycle of poverty for low-income, single parent and homeless families through higher education, affordable housing, supportive services, community and economic development and accountability. They concentrate all their work in West Philadelphia, especially the area SW of University City (Haddington/Cobbs Creek neighborhood).
For years, BLBB Charitable has financially supported their Family Self-Sufficiency program. The FSS program provides affordable housing, coaching, and other wrap-around services to families and children (mainly single mothers, but also single fathers) to leverage their skills and drive to get the training, skills, and education they need to promote long-term success of families.
Related to this work, ACHIEVEability works to stabilize and lift up the community in SW Philly where they are located. They work with local business owners and residents to improve safety, community, and opportunities.

A BLBB team cleaned and painted several porches for neighbors on the streets right behind ACHIEVability’s headquarters at 59th and Market Streets. These “Porches That Pop” help create a feeling of pride, cleanliness, and security in the area. Stabilizing and preserving the housing is an important part of stabilizing a family and a neighborhood, because the house is a resident’s largest financial asset.
