In 2022, BLBB Charitable donated almost $95,000 to nonprofit organizations to match personal funds donated by employees/members of BLB&B Advisors, LLC. Along with the $99,000 in grants made to organizations in honor of employees’ board leadership and volunteer service, 2022 was a record year for employee-related grants from the Foundation.
Employee matching grants have more than tripled in dollars since the program formally began, and board and volunteer leadership incentive grants have doubled. Most importantly, though, the number of individuals serving on a board or leadership committee has gone from 6 in 2018 to 16 in 2022!
The below chart shows each of the Foundation’s grant programs as a percentage of total grant dollars awarded this year. In 2022, the Foundation made grants totaling $2.05M:
- $388,392 were part of the BLB&B Advisors’ Grant Programs (matching grants, board/volunteer incentive grants, corporate citizenship sponsorships, and related community business development grants)
- $250,000 in Director Discretionary Grants
- $313,875 in Burke Family Legacy Grants
- $1,099,250 in Impact Grants (in our 5 Focus Areas: Economic Self-Sufficiency; Local Environmental Education; K-12 Private Education; Post-Secondary Education & Opportunities; and Youth Development & Leadership)
As the giving arm of BLB&B Advisors, LLC, part of the foundation’s work focuses on our firm’s community engagement efforts. Involvement in the community is core to who the founder of BLBB, Frank Burke, was and vitally important to the current leadership team (all of whom serve on multiple nonprofit boards and committees).
This year, the BLBB team held two in-person volunteer events: a trail cleanup with Wissahickon Trails and a food bank farm harvest with Bucks County Opportunity Center’s Delaware Valley Hope of the Harvest program. We also had a full team of runners for Travis Manion Foundation’s 9/11 Heroes Run. In addition, the team generously collected items and donated funds for three in-kind drives: pantry supplies and Thanksgiving food gift baskets for families in Montgomery County served by Family Promise MontCo PA, and children’s books for students in Gemma Services‘ Residential Treatment Program during the Christmas holidays.
