Securing foundation grants is critical for nonprofit organizations, especially small organizations that do not receive any government funding. Research and writing aren’t the only important part of successfully bringing in those dollars. The key to foundation grants is relationships – genuine relationships and productive, transparent conversations with foundation staff and board members.
Executive Director, Nicole Tell, joined Nija Rivera (founder of fundraising consultancy, Gritty Grants), and Akshara Vivekananthan (Program Officer, HealthSpark Foundation) for a panel hosted by C3 Collaboration (Tri-County Community Network, Bucks-Mont Collaborative, and Interagency Council of Norristown). The interactive discussion with over 50 area nonprofit fundraising staff touched on what makes a productive conversation from the funder’s perspective. Panelists also gave tips, strategies, and advice on improving their outreach and follow-up with foundations.
