BLBB Charitable Awards Emergency Grant to Area Hurricane Ida Efforts

BLBB Charitable awarded a grant of $5,000 to the Montgomery County Foundation’s Montgomery Emergency Disaster Relief Fund. All donations to this fund will support non-profit agencies serving Montgomery County individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Nonprofit groups will be able to use funds to support housing, food, gasoline, various household needs, and other costs which bridge the gap between their out-of-pocket expenses now and what federal or insurance funding will cover in the future. Individuals in need should reach out to groups like ACLAMO, Montgomery County OIC, Carson Valley Children’s Aid, and Your Way Home.

On the evening of Wednesday, September 1, 2021 Montgomery County, PA endured severe flooding and wind damage due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The Schuylkill River at Norristown and the Perkiomen Creek at Graterford crested at record levels, and an EF-2 tornado touched down in Upper Dublin and Horsham Townships. Four Montgomery County residents lost their lives in the storm and hundreds of others sustained major property damage. Many will not be able to return to their homes for weeks or months, if at all.

BLBB Charitable made this one-time grant outside its mission focus of education and leadership opportunities to help its neighbors and community rebuild.  “Many of BLB&B Advisors’ employees and clients were substantially affected by the recent storms,” said Nicole Tell, BLBB Charitable’s Executive Director. “As a community member, we realize that unlike our employees and our clients, not everyone has the resources or the support systems in place to handle a crisis like this.”
